Family Brands
The creation and registration of particular family brands was clear evidence of successful Polish integration into the ranching and farming culture. Since the Spanish settlement of Mexico and Texas, branding has played an important role in cattle ranching. Many early brands were simply initials identifying an animal’s owner, but later became stylized letters, or decorative pictures, akin to trademarks.
An interactive display allows visitors to access the brands by picture and/or by the name of the original family who registered and owned the brand. Each brand is accompanied by a short story about the family and the brand.
